Admissions for internacional students

International / Foreign students can apply to our study programmes (Bachelor, Master or Doctorate). See conditions bellow in tis page.

Conditions According to which Foreign Students may apply for a Bachelor course

International students are those who do not have Portuguese nationality. The following are not covered by the International student definition foreseen above:

  • Natural people from a EU member-state;
  • Those who are not natural people from a member-state of the EU legally residing in Portugal for over two years, uninterruptedly, on 31st August of the year they intend to sign in higher education, as well as the children that are legally living with them;
  • Those who apply for higher education through special access and application regimes regulated by Decree-Law No. 393 from 2nd October, as amended by Decree-Law No. 272/2009, from 1st October.

Also, foreign students attending a studies cycle under an International mobility program are not covered by the international student concept to be part of this cycle at a foreign higher education institution with which Universidade Lusófona has already established an exchange agreement with that same goal.

Information about Visa Declaration

After the submission of applications and the payment of the fees (for the application and Visa Declaration) you should go to the Embassy of Portugal or the Portuguese Consulate nearest to your area of residence.

On the page of Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) you will find all the information about the Resident Visa for Study and the documentation you will have to present.

After arriving in Portugal, your Visa, which will be valid for 120 days, shall have to be replaced by a Residence Permit. For this purpose, you must go to SEF until one month before its expiry date, and present a Declaration of Enrolment at Lusófona University.

Once in possession of a Residence Permit, as long as you apply for permission to the SEF, students will be able to study and work during the period of residence in the country.

In case there are any remaining vacancies, new application phases shall be announced. The students with a valid National Exam of Intermediate Education ENEM (Brazil) and national access exams to higher education do not have to pass in the internal exams. Ingress Exams obtained through the National Exam of Intermediate Education ENEM (Brazil).


Conditions According to which Foreign Students may apply for a Master's or for a Doctorate Degree

Students who do not have Portuguese nationality must meet the following requirements in order to apply for Master’s and/or Doctorate Programmes:

  • To have an undergraduate degree (for Master's degree candidates) or a Master’s degree (for doctoral candidates);
  • Deliver the documents itemized below;
  • Deliver the Diploma of the degree, as well as the transcripts recognized by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular representation existing in their country of origin, translated by an official translator (except documents in Spanish, French and English).

Documents to be delivered for:
Master’s Degrees

  • Photograph;
  • A copy of the passport;
  • Diploma of the degree obtained (*);
  • Academic background of the BA/BSc (*);
  • Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed;
  • An individual Portfolio for us to evaluate the artistic and professional path of the candidate, as well as the relevance of his/her past experience. This portfolio should preferably be delivered in digital form ¿ applicable to the 2nd Cycle of Film Studies;
  • An individual project containing a note of intent, a synopsis and other elements that the applicant may deem relevant, relating to an original concept for the production of cinematographic full-length film ¿ applicable to the 2nd Cycle of Film Studies;

Documents to be delivered for:
Doctorates

  • Photograph;
  • A copy of the passport;
  • A Mater’s diploma (*)
  • Academic background of the Master’s degree (*)
  • Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed;
  • Short draft for a Doctoral thesis project

(*) Recognized by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular representation existing in their country of origin and translated by an official translator (except documents in Spanish, French and English).
