    This study cycle aims at developing a programme in the area of sexology for health professionals and other graduates, developing investigative and study actions in the domain of sexual health, both in its clinical aspects - medical and psychological - and in the educative and socio-cultural ones.
  • Admission Conditions

    Admission Conditions

    The following are eligible to apply for the Transdisciplinary Master's Degree in Sexology leading to a Master's Degree: a) holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent, with a final average of 14 or more; b) holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by a State adhering to that process; c) holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the statutorily competent body; d) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the competent statutory body of the Centro Universitário Lusófona - Lisboa as attesting to their ability to complete this cycle of studies. e) For the Psychology of Sexuality strand, only psychology graduates can enter the master's program, with a final course average equal to or higher than 14 points. Selection criteria: - 50% mark from previous qualification - Interview 5% Professional profile; 40% Scientific profile; 5% Motivation. Candidates without a numerical classification in their previous qualification (but with proof of a degree in Psychology - 1st cycle/graduate degree) - Interview 15% Professional profile; 70% Scientific profile; 15% Motivation.

    Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

    In the Sexuality Psychology field: 1. Institutional experience in the field of Sexuality Psychology, aiming for the performance of supervised practice on evaluation, diagnosis, and implementation of prevention or treatment programs, always with results' evaluation; 2. Training and evaluation in sex education or birth control programs. 3. Training in the development and implementation of investigation projects on psychological and clinical aspects of the human sexual response and sexual dysfunctions. 4. Experience of integration in multidisciplinary teams for handling sexual problems. In the Human Sexuality field: 1. Training and evaluation in sex education or birth control programs. 2. Training in the development and implementation of investigation projects in the various areas of the sexual behaviour; 3. Experience of integration in multidisciplinary teams for handling sexual problems. In the area of Sexual Medicine 1. Institutional experience in the field of Sexual Medicine, aiming for a supervised practice, according to the knowledge acquired in the curricular units; 2. Training in the diagnosis and treatment of sexual dysfunctions, evaluation, and implementation of prevention or treatment programs, with results¿ evaluation; 3. Training in the development and implementation of investigation projects on biological and clinical aspects of the human sexual response and sexual dysfunctions. 4. Experience of integration in multidisciplinary teams for handling sexual problems.

    Objectives

    We present a curriculum of theoretical contents, which, from a transdisciplinary perspective may: ¿ Give an ample vision of the diversity and complexity of human sexuality; ¿ Understand the neurobiological mechanisms that explain sexual function and dysfunction; ¿ Recognise the psychological implications of human sexuality, from a holistic and integrated point of view; ¿ Use the resources and methodologies of research to be used in the advanced study of human sexuality;

    The need to understand sexuality behaviours and problems has been bringing up an ever-increasing number of research centres. However, the career opportunities also involve the promotion of sexual health (especially in risk groups and older adults), prevention (sex education, family planning) and treatment (clinics, hospitals, healthcare centres, etc.).     Students have at their disposal the following equipment and facilities: Laboratory of Computational Psychology, Laboratory of Psychological Assessment, Clinic of Men and Women and iSex - Journal of Sexology. "
  • Observations

    Observations

    Obtaining the total number of credits in the scientific area of Sexology (common structure) does not confer any academic title but does certify the student of having a Postgraduate Diploma in Sexology. Obtaining the total number of credits in the fields of Specialization confers the following titles: ¿ Psychology of Sexuality: Master¿s Degree in Sexology ¿ Specialization in Psychology of Sexuality; ¿ Human Sexuality: Master¿s Degree in Sexology ¿ Specialization in Human Sexuality; ¿ Sexual Medicine: Master¿s Degree in Sexology ¿ Specialization in Sexual Medicine. In the second year the student may group 60 ECTS by Scientific Area, designing his pathway in the study of Sexology, according the three fields of Specialization: Psychology of Sexuality, Human Sexuality and Sexual Medicine.
