Resume

Ana Cristina Ferreira is a researcher at the National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research (INIAV) and Senior member at BioISI - Biosystems & Integrative Sciences Institute. In 2018 I was invited as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Lusófona University (ULHT), and presently as Director of Microbiology I and Microbiology II courses (1st cycle). Since the beginning of her PhD in Biology, specialization in Microbiology (2017, FCUL), have been working on the molecular and genomic characterization of Brucella spp. isolates and brucellosis epidemiology. Both PhD and pos-doctoral programs were carried out at INIAV and at the Faculty of Science University of Lisbon (FCUL). Have also been involved in the bacteriological, molecular and serological diagnosis of brucellosis and CBPP at INIAV and as Coordinator of the National Reference Laboratory for Brucellosis.  Ana Cristina Ferreira experience include the participation, as PI or member, in nine I&D projects, mainly in the area of animal health. More recently, have been involved in a project which is exploiting antimicrobial resistance determinants in aquaculture environments (AquaRAM) based on metagenomic approaches and in silico analysis for resistance genes counting, source attribution and risk assessment, in collaboration with the Division for Global Surveillance at DTU (Technical University of Denmark). Other projects include international collaborations in the scope of One Health Cofound EJP Consortium (IDEMBRU - Identification of emerging Brucella spp.: new threats for human and animal), as Co-PI, and ARIMNet2 ERA-NET Action (BrucMedNet - Improvement of epidemiological and serological tools for diagnosis and control of brucellosis in the Mediterranean region). The main research interests are infection biology, zoonosis diagnostic, molecular epidemiology, comparative genomics and phylogenomics.
