Resume

Sara Pereira has a PhD in Sports Sciences specialization in Sport, Genetics and Motor Behavior (2020), and a Master in Sports for children and youth (2014) from University of Porto. She is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University (since September 2020) and invited Professor at Faculty of Sport, University of Porto (since September 2021). Moreover, she is a researcher at Center of Research, Education, Innovation and Intervention in Sport (CIFI2D), funded by FCT and housed in the Faculty of Sport, University of Porto (since 2011). More recently, she became a researcher at CIDEFES on Lusófona University (since September 2020). She currently integrates The Society for the Study of Human Biology (SSHB). Her research focuses on youth development and health-related markers and relies on a holistic interpretation of human development to best understand the intertwined relationships between individual and environmental characteristics that shape body composition, physical fitness, motor development, lifestyle and cardiometabolic indicators. During her scientific career, she published 18 articles as a first author and 40 as co-author, worked with 26 researchers from 9 countries. She had been involved in 8 research projects (Portugal, Cape Verde and Peru). She was invited by international peer-reviewed journals to be a reviewer and was awarded volunteer of the year (2018/2019) by the University of Porto for her involvement in international research projects in Cape Verde and Peru. Moreover, she has strong skill in biostatistics namely in multilevel model and latent profile analysis using SPSS, Stata, Supermix and Mplus. The most frequent keywords of research topics are: Sport Studies; Siblings; Motor development; Body composition; Physical activity; Physical fitness; Metabolic syndrome; Health-related markers.
