Where do old satellites go when they die?

Abstract
"Humanity has been shooting things into space for a few decades now, and we’ve gotten pretty good at it. What we haven’t gotten so good at is bringing things back down." (extremetech, 2017)
In this seminar we will present the latest advances and strategies under consideration within the ESA's clean space program. An introduction to control engineering will be presented with particular emphasis in its role in Active Space Debris Removal (ADR).

Pedro Serra (DEISI-COPELABS-ULHT / gmv)
Pedro Serra received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal, in 2006, 2007, and 2016, respectively. He was a Research Assistant with the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau, Macao, China, from 2013 to 2015. Currently he an Auxiliary Professor at Universidade Lusófona, researcher at ECATI/COPELABS and a Control Engineering Expert with the Space Systems Business Unit, GMV Aerospace and Defense.
