Provide the acquisition of knowledge on Labor Relations in Portugal, framed in its historical context, in order to evaluate its evolution and impact on Human Resources Management. Skills for development within Human Resource Management activities organizations, concerning the different aspects of employer-worker relations.

1. Introduction to RL; (1.1 The international dimension of RL; 1.2 The European dimension of RL; 1.3 The role of the ILO); 2. European social policy. The European Social Dialogue; 3. Historical evolution in Portugal (3.1 The unions; 3.2 Democracy and social consultation: 3.3 Conflict and Negotiations); 4. The main organizations representing employers and workers: business and employer associations; workers' commissions and union associations; 5. Dynamics of collective bargaining in Portugal; 6. Main topics of the contemporary agenda: (6.1 Green Paper on RL; 6.2 Agenda 2030; 6.3 Differentiation of Labor Markets; 6.4 Work Models); 7. RL the contemporary economy: Adaptability and flexibility.
Objectives
Collective labour relations and industrial relations. Recent evolution of labour relations in Portugal. Corporatism. Rupture and transition: the union issue. Democracy and industrial relations. Social concertation - the main representative organizations. The social aspect of European integration. The International Labour Organization: Conventions and Recommendations.
