Prerequisites and co-requisites
Introduction to Operational Research. Linear programming. Transport and affectation. Network optimization. Dynamic programming. Programming by objectives. Non-linear programming. Multicriteria evaluation. Decision trees. Forecasting techniques. Economics of decisions.
Ensure the understanding of knowledge on the themes of Operational Research in order to provide students with a theoretical basis, as well as their various practical applications in solving problems in companies. To make known that several problems can be formulated and an optimal solution found. Ensure that students have the ability to apply advanced analytical methods that will assist them in decision making. Demonstrate the cost of money for decision alternatives. Use MS-EXCEL software to assist in the construction of decision support models and realize the added value of using software rather than performing calculations manually.
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
Competence to realize the importance of operational research and apply scientific methods in solving problems in companies, seeking the optimization of processes, systems, etc. Ability to use MS-EXCEL in troubleshooting.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Theoretical-practical classes composed of: Presentation of the subject, presentation of practical examples of everyday life, resolution of exercises and case studies with the support of MS-EXCEL software. The continuous evaluation will be in the form of the following evaluation elements: Two frequencies Attendance, punctuality and participation in the accomplishment of the exercises and cases of studies ¿10% that will compose the final grade. The student goes to the 2 nd test if he obtains a mark in the first test equal to or higher than 8 values or exam. The student will be approved and exempted from the exam if the average of the frequency notes is equal to or greater than 10 values. The student will pass the exam if the result is equal to or greater than 10 values.
