Pathology and Clinical Surgery II
Presentation
This discipline will show the student the approach to surgical cases, the techniques and skills necessary to carry out common surgical interventions in the practice of farm animal and horse clinics. It is a strong component in the farm animal and equine clinical preparation of future practitioners, as it will provide the skills to decide on whether and how to perform surgery in these animals.

Farm Animals: Equine:
Objectives
To acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on the clinical approach of common situations occurring in large animal clinics that might require or will benefit from surgical intervention. To put into proctice the theoretical knowledge acquired in pre-clinical disciplines. To recognise a clinical problem in large animal species, identify the need for surgical intervention, to know the technique and preparation of the surgical tools and environment to carry out the procedures. To achieve a diagnosis and prognosis of presented cases and establish the cost-benefit association of the possible treatment.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Presence in 2/3 of the theoretical and practical classes is mandatory, except for students with worker status and other applicable ones, who may be subject to a supplementary assessment regime to be defined by the teacher. For approval in continuous assessment, the student must obtain a classification equal to or greater than 9.5 in all theoretical assessments and in the practical component, the student must have a minimum weighted average of 9.5. This applies to Equine and E.P. contents separately. The final grade is the average of the theoretical and practical assessment. E.P. and Eq., which must be a minimum of 9.5 marks ¿¿out of 20.
