Class Structural Systems I

This curricular unit intends to make a first introduction to the statics of structures and familiarize the architecture student with the notion of equilibrio of buildings.

• Introduction to mechanics: fundamental concepts and principles
• Static equilibrium of particles.
• Rigid bodies: equivalente systems of forces
• Equilibrium of rigid bodies.
• Trusses

The teaching methodology is based on theoretical and practical exercises related to real structures, in order to motivate students and facilitate their understanding of basic structural concepts. Continuous evaluation with two tests throughout the semester. For those students not approved in the continuous evaluation.
