    In the conviction that the interface between Communication and Globalization is framed in a complex, multidisciplinary and constantly changing thematic area, the syllabus modules that were selected aim to provide students with familiarization with the concept of globalization from a perspective that has communication as its analysis base. . It is also intended that the concept of Globalization can be studied in the context of world trade.

    1.Introduction to Globalization:

    Historical-evolutionary analysis;

    The schools of globalization.

    2. Networks as pillars of Globalization:

    Brief introduction to the study of network theory;

    The contributions of the Enlightenment to globalization;

    Free trade;

    The structuring of world powers.

    3.Contributions of the information industry to globalization;

    Information as a commodity and an element of approximation

    4. Advertising as a Globalization tool:

    Public opinion;

    The rise of (some) states;

    The advent of radio and other media.

    5. The new economy and the sharing economy

    6. Globalization and the Covid-19 pandemic

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    Through a set of theoretical elements related to the contextualization of Globalization in interface with Communication, it is proposed the creation of a space of modulation with the promotion of critical judgment skills and autonomous research among each student.    
    By familiarizing students with the syllabus of the course, it is intended to provide them with reliable knowledge about what has been academically produced at the interface of Communication and Globalization. Finally, the objective of the course is to provide students with a theoretical and operational heritage for autonomous and creative reflection.
