    This is a project driven discipline that has three educational objectives. It coordinates the project to be developed and promotes the articulation between other semestral subjects around its development. It develops as a syllabus the introduction to film language of Cinema and knowledge of narrative structures. It brings the student closer to filmic narrative language from a practical perspective with the development of the creative process that aims to produce a short fiction film.

    Students must be able to create and produce a short film, they must acquire skills for a set of presentations around its development and production. They must know and understand film language and its articulation with narrative processes.

    1. Preparation for Writing and Realization of cinematographic project based on the observation of reality.

    2. Development of the “Train Observation” methodology.

    3. Creation of Cinematographic Synopsis for project development.

    4. Presentation and discussion of Synopses.

    5. Presentation and discussion on script development.

    6. Presentation and discussion of the realization proposal.

    7. The Cinematic Language.

    7.1 - D.W.Griffith and the birth of a language of cinema.

    7.2 - The language of cinema and the representation of reality.

    7.3 - Time, space and continuity.

    8. Narrative Structures.

    8.1 - Linear Narrative.

    8.1.1 - The three acts structure.

    8.1.2 - Conflict.

    8.1.3 - Characters.

    8.1.4 - Causality.

    8.1.5 - Likelihood.

    8.2 - Non-linear narrative.

    8.3 - Open Narrative vs Closed Narrative.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    This Curricular Unit is characterised as a Project Development Curricular Unit, and as such it develops teaching/learning methodologies that seek to centralise the pedagogical process in the students.

    In this particular case, the Samsara Model, which is being developed in the context of the FilmEU project, is used as the pedagogical model.

    The pedagogical axes to be emphasised are as:

    Learning through the development of projects.

    Team based projects.

    Intensive technological mediation.

    Challenge based Learning. 

    Transversability between the different curricular units of the semester. 

    Development of presentations and ability to discuss a project conceptually.
