Class Discrete Mathematics

The course of Discrete Mathematics aims to contribute to the acquisition of a set of skills in students: the ability to assimilate information and to communicate it; the ability of written expression; the ability of oral expression and the ability of mathematical argument. To this end, concepts of mathematical logic, set theory and number theory will be studied

The teaching methodology includes the expository method (TM1) to present the contents, the demonstrative method (TM2) to illustrate its application to practical cases and the active method (TM3) to solve classroom exercises.

The assessment is made by continuous assessment or written exam.

The continuous assessment consists of 3 tests carried out during practical lessons on dates to be defined at the beginning of the semester. Approval by continuous assessment requires the realisation of all tests. In case of failure to pass the course by continuous assessment, students may be assessed by a final attendance. There is no minimum mark in either case.

The final mark may be increased by between 0.5 and 1 mark with the presence and correct answers to questions made during the theoretical lessons.

Students with a final mark between 8 and 9.4, if they wish, may be subject to an extra test, under conditions to be defined, to obtain approval.
