This Curricular Unit presents the main concepts and theories that support the international economy and addresses the main relevant themes related to globalization caraterization in its different dimensions and current phase shift, highlighting the historical evolution of international trade and its determinants; the action of companies in a globalized world; the effects of international trade and globalization on employment, inequalities and the environment; the issue of free trade versus protectionism; and, framework of multilateral negotiations and relevant aspects of economic integration.

The UC uses active student-centered teaching-learning methods, through an appropriate combination of exposing the syllabus with the discussion of topics and specialized articles of general interest, prompting critical reflection and promoting group dynamics, as well as self-learning through consultation of specialized sources and websites, duly guided by the professor.
