Class Fitness II (Individual Activities)

  • Presentation

    Presentation

The Fitness II curricular unit falls within a set of Curricular Units that aim to provide students with tools for future professional practice as exercise physiologist. The CU is based on the recommendations of leading national and international bodies, looking for a sustained professional practice supported by scientific evidence.

Moreover, the organization of classes and contents aims to provide the conceptual and practical framework that allows in later years a gradual articulation and application of knowledge, aiming at a deeper content exploration. For this, a period of observation in real context (i.e. gyms) will also be held where the articulation of the contents worked with the reality of these spaces will be promoted.

It is expected that it will be reached as a final training product in the exercise and health/ fitness subject, professionals with the ability to adapt their practice to most emerging situations of practice, and with the ability to lift the professional area.

    Objectives

    - Know the framing and evolution of individual activities in the area of fitness, identifying the current needs of populations and practice spaces.

    - Know and understand the profile of the exercise physiologist and its multiple facets of intervention in inter and multidisciplinary teams in various practice contexts.

    - To acquire knowledge and basic skills of human movement analysis, and the ability to promote a selective adjustment of the neuromuscular integration of various exercises.

    - Know and understand the structure and organization of the training session, as well as the main control and construction variables of the training unit.

    - Acquire elementary knowledge and skills in the use of various materials and equipment in the various dynamics of individual activities.

    - Globally perform a critical analysis of professional practices and customer needs in real practice context.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

There will be, throughout the year, in the continuous assessment regime, four evaluation moments, two practical and two theoretical, which are structured by weight as follows:

    • Written tests: 60% (30% each, to be held at the end of each semester)
    • Practical assessments: 40% (20% each)
    • Kinesiological analysis of a practical situation with adaptation to a proposed case (end 1st semester)
    • Case-study analisys and resolution in the exercise room (end 2nd semester)

The average of all evaluation elements must be equal to or greater than 9.5 to obtain approval. Partial classifications less than 7.5 values ¿¿imply taking an exam. Taking an exam will involve the application of a written test, a practical test, and a verification in a verbal/oral register.
