Objectives

The aim of this CU is to develop theoretical and practical knowledge of the characteristics of the principal classical
materials applied to construction,and their respective impact on expected behaviours based on their
physical,chemical and mechanical characteristics.

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

It thus aims at developing in-depth knowledge of the
physical,chemical and mechanic characteristics of the principal materials,and the influence of their behaviours (traditional wooden materials,plastics,bitumen,steels,linkages,cements,ceramics and glass).It aims at developing
theoretical knowledge about the composition of bitumen, theoretical knowledge of calculus in the composition of
bitumen and mortar, and the essays to verify their principal characteristics and potential and real resistances. It
aims at developing knowledge as to the utilization and application of new construction materials(self-compacting,
light and fibre reinforced cements)as far as their behaviours,techniques of application and later functioning.

Theoretical/practical classes (4h)

Requisites to pass:
Classification of at least 10 in tests and exam
Requisites to pass the course:
Arithmetic average of at least 10 in all assignments
