Objectives

Many of the professionals that act in the Social domains (cooperatives, mutual benefit societies, associations), namely in the sectors of privileged intervention of the social solidarity institutions, do not possess academic competences in management, although they are frequently asked to assume responsibilities in this field.

This gap is highlighted by the fact that if we consider corporate structures, holders of such competences and that have been investing in social areas in the last years, through banks, insurance companies and lucrative companies, with clear levels of public acceptance and social efficiency.

In this context, Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies of Lisbon, has conceived and promotes a 2nd Cycle of Studies in Social Service ¿ Management of Social and Well-being Units, with the goal to transport, to non-profit social sectors, advanced management competences, with no loss inherent to serving all professionals at the same time, independently of the sector of the respective activity.

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

In general terms, the Master¿s program intends to train professionals of social service and other social area, as well as provide an advanced training and competences for the management of social and well-being units.

In specific terms, the Master¿s program will allow the acquisition of the following competences:
Organisation, planning, budget plan, follow-up and evaluation in terms of management:
Applying operational management techniques of human resources and leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
