06.11.24 - 12h35During the Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024, Lusófona University reinforces its commitment to promoting media and information literacy by highlighting two innovative initiatives developed by the MeLCi Lab. These projects aim to empower students and young people for critical and informed engagement in the digital sphere and scientific research.
IV MeLCi Lab Autumn School: Science and Hands-On Research Skills
From October 28 to 31, the IV MeLCi Lab Autumn School brought participants together for the “Science Bootcamp to Boost Practical Research Skills,” an intensive workshop offering essential hands-on training to develop research, critical analysis, and media literacy skills. This initiative aimed to equip students and professionals with tools to strengthen their autonomy and analytical skills within academia and the job market, demonstrating Lusófona’s commitment to providing practical, forward-looking training.
YouNDigital: Promoting Digital Citizenship Among Young People
The YouNDigital project, also promoted by the MeLCi Lab, focuses on the connection between young people, news consumption, and digital citizenship. By exploring how young people engage with news and civic participation online, YouNDigital seeks to foster informed and active digital citizenship. This initiative, supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), aims to cultivate a critical and responsible generation within the digital public sphere, contributing to the strengthening of democracy and civic participation among young people.
Through these initiatives, Lusófona University stands out in leading the development of a more informed and critical society, embracing media literacy and digital citizenship as fundamental pillars for education and building a more inclusive and responsible society.
