1st Biological Garden at Universidade Lusófona
Project carried out by the students of the eco-schools council under the coordination of the institution's teachers

As part of the application for the eco-schools program of the Faculty of Engineering, the 1st biological garden was created at Universidade Lusófona. The project was carried out by students from the Eco-Schools council under the coordination of teachers Elisabete Maurício, Joana Lage, Anabela Cruzes, with the support of Eng. Ricardo and the ULHT maintenance department.
The location chosen for the implantation corresponds to an area of arid soils without any use, with about 160 m2 located in the east side of the campus, which is intended to be revitalized by transforming it into a useful area for students and teachers. The project will be developed in two phases, this year the 1st revitalization phase was carried out with the creation of two rustic wooden beds built by the University's maintenance team, where aromatic herbs and vegetables were cultivated. The objective will be to revitalize the remaining area next year, with the planting of more aromatic and vegetable species. This vegetable garden intends to be a place to study and explore the different characteristics and applications of plants for the development of future projects with students in various disciplines at the faculty.
