Operat Project joins Accessible Videogames Repository

Videogames are made within the framework of the Lusófona Videogames Degree.

06.12.22 - 12h21

The Operat - Accessible Resources Workshop project recently joined the repository of video games accessible to people with intellectual disabilities developed within the scope of the Lusófona video games degree, a set of tangible games designed together with APPACDM technicians and clients from Lisbon.

Operat, in collaboration with CED Jacob Rodrigues Pereira (Casa Pia), also won the Engineer Jaime Filipe Technological Innovation Award with the project EducaçãoAcessível.pt. A distinction within the scope of the participation rights of people with disabilities, awarded by the National Institute for Rehabilitation which, among others, aims to stimulate research and the invention of instruments that guarantee a better quality of life for people with disabilities.

The games produced aim to contribute to a gap in the supply of resources of that type that are adjusted to the interests and needs of this population, and that can be acquired in the prototyping laboratory of Lusófona LabTec or executed in another laboratory of that type, simply by download the execution plans for free on the project website.

As an ongoing project, which has the support of Humanitas and CICANT, the publication of new video games and tangible resources accessible to people with intellectual disabilities is about to begin.
