On November 20, the Welcome Session for International Students at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Porto took place.
The students were able to count on the presence of Professor Isabel Babo, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, and Professor Elisabete Pinto da Costa, Pro-Rector for Mobility.
The aim of this session was to welcome the new students and let them know about the projects they can take part in. Two representatives of the Association of Portuguese Language Universities were online to present the students with their plans for developing the Portuguese language around the world.
During the event, they were also able to hear from Dr. Vilma Martelo, who gave them the opportunity to talk about the "Inclusion and Interculturality" project - Innovate and Empower. This project had a team coordinated by Professor Elisabete Pinto da Costa, Professor Álsina Martins, Professor Olga Ribeiro and Vilma Martelo herself. This plan aims to co-construct a community of intercultural inclusion.
Finally, two representatives from Porto City Council presented two programs that help international students integrate into their new city. The first program presented "Study in Porto" is a digital platform that promotes Porto as a destination to study and research. It is aimed especially at international students who come to study and enjoy the best of the city and the university. Its purpose is to improve integration for students who choose to study in Porto. The second program presented, "Porto Acolhe", aims to show the city of Porto to students and provide quality integration for international students by offering guided tours of the city of Porto.
