ULusófona Officially Opened the 2025/2026 Academic Year
The ceremony highlighted integrity, democracy and the role of AI in promoting quality and inclusive education

On 29 October 2025, the Agostinho da Silva Auditorium hosted the Solemn Opening Session of the Academic Year of Lusófona University, in an event that brought together lecturers, students, and guests from the institution’s various organisational units.
The ceremony featured contributions from Professor Manuel de Almeida Damásio, student Matias Santos, and the Vice-Rector Professor Luís Claudio Ribeiro, who delivered the lecture “Integrity and Democracy in Higher Education: AI as its instrument”.
The Keynote Lecture was given by Professor Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, Rector of ISCTE, addressing European transformations and the future of higher education. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by the Rector, Professor José Bragança de Miranda.
The ceremony reinforced Lusófona University’s commitment to SDG 4 – Quality Education, advocating equitable access to knowledge and critical education as pathways towards a fairer and more sustainable future.
