Resume

Álvaro Dias has been a university professor with habilitation since 1995, teaching mainly in the areas of Tourism, Marketing and Entrepreneurship. At the same time, he has carried out consultancy activities in entities such as: Ministry of Economy, IAPMEI, AIP, AEP, AERLIS, GNR, ACT, CCP, Turismo de Portugal and dozens of companies. He has two distinguished doctorates (cum laude): one in Management with a specialty in Marketing and the other in Tourism, Master in Strategy, MBA and degree in Management. He also has a postgraduate degree in E-business. Current director of the Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Management at ISCTE-IUL. He directed the Economic and Business Sciences department at UAL. He was director of the Master's and Degree in Marketing and co-director of the Degree in Management at ISG. He was also director of the Masters in Tourism Destination Management at Universidade Lusófona. Author of 25 books and more than 230 articles in leading international publications. He was distinguished in 2022 with the D. Nuno Álvares Pereira Medal of Merit from the GNR and a diploma of Commendation. In 2021, he received the research award from the Smart Tourism Chair of the Junta de Andalucía and the University of Seville. In 2023 he received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Seville. The article Entrepreneurship role on dynamic capabilities: A longitudinal study on Brazilian and Portuguese firms, created in co-authorship, was nominated for the Best Paper Prize of the Special Conference of the Strategic Management Society, in 2011. He supervised 2 post-doctorates, 15 doctorates, and 254 master's degrees. His international experience as a Visiting Professor includes Angola, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Spain, Poland, Romania, and Finland. Álvaro Dias coordinated 9 funded research projects and participated in 14 others, most of them international and involving large teams. Currently, I collaborate with five informal research teams with shared interests, working together since 2021.
