Entrance Conditions
This study cycle accepts candidates who submit their application via the institutional entrance competition and have obtained a positive score in one of the following national entrance exams:
04- Economics
17- Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences
18- Portuguese
Candidates may also apply via the regimes of institution/programme transfer or via Special Application, in accordance with the legal regulations in force (holders of higher education degree, holders of a Technological Specialization Course, holders of Professional Higher Technician Course or Over 23 years of Age).
Candidates who meet the requirements defined in the International Student Statute can also apply.

Objectives
The evolution of HR,in the context of the society for knowledge,requires technicians of HR Management(HRM) fully integrated in the organization,as well as in its strategies of response to the various challenges.The Course of HRM is designed as an essential course so that the students may attain levels of excellence in the rapid utilization of methods and studied instruments.This is our form of responding to the evolution of the function HR and to the exigencies that face us nowadays in the area of managing human capital in the organizations.Thus,the study plan has,as its objective,the development the following competences among the students:
General culture and strategic vision,oriented by research and scientific reasoning;
Organization of personal work;Techniques of resolution of problems and decision;Team
work,adaptability and leadership;Social consciousness;Application of models and specific methodologies of intervention in HRM:Knowledge of Economy, Law, Informatics and Statistics, related to HRM.
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
The first study cycle in HRM is designed in view to develop the following general competences:
¿ In-depth knowledge of the history and the principal paradigms that were relevant for the development of HRM concepts;
¿ In-depth knowledge of different schools and theories that may constitute the functional bases of the principal concepts and tools of HRM;
¿ Knowledge about the different structural, functional and strategic configurations pertaining to the practices of HRM:
¿ Knowledge about models, practices and tools of intervention in HRM;
¿ Knowledge the basic tools and methodologies of research and information treatment on HRM, as indispensable modalities in the appropriation of knowledge on the part of HRM professionals;
Complementary, the First cycle of Studies in HRM has as its objectives to develop a set of competences in the domain of the expertise, able to furnish the future graduate the practical tools able to allow them a rapid transference of acquired knowledge as far as the professional practice is concerned.
The following are the general competences to be acquired in this area:
¿ Knowledge of tolls for analysis, discretion and evaluation of functions:
¿ Knowledge of recruiting methodologies, selection and assessment of candidates;
¿ Knowledge of the methodologies to build portfolios of competences;
¿ Knowledge of the methodologies for performance evaluation;
¿ Knowledge of the methodologies for career management in national and international context;
¿ Knowledge of tools to treat information in HRM, namely in the areas of Administrative Management of HR and in the systems of Information in HRM;
¿ Knowledge of working legislation and of comprehensive models of Labour Relations allowing for a better
action concerning the processes of regulation of labour conflicts:
¿ Knowledge of informatics tools related to HRM;
This study cycle aims at giving future graduates a deep comprehension of the principal challenges that face the future of HRM, as well as a critical vision indispensable to the correct adequation of acquired knowledge and competences to the nature of each context.
The operativeness of these objectives shall be done through the following elements of practical action:
¿ Theoretical classes articulated with theoretical/practical classes;
¿ A qualified body of teachers, many of them with valuable experience in the area of HRM;
¿ Progressive academic qualification of the existing teaching staff, reinforcing their competences in the field with pedagogic and scientific competences;
¿ General meting of teachers, organized by the Course Coordination, where the politics for the scientific and pedagogic coordination of the course shall be defined.

Further Studies
Obtaining the Diploma of the 2nd cycle in HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT opens a career path that integrates the functions of specialist human resources and academic Masters degree.
It also allows the student to progress to the third cycle, as a doctoral student in science management.
Career
The 1st cycle opens the student to the possibility of an efective professionalization, which integrates the functions of assistant human resources, superior technical human resources, ability to advance their education, in the 2nd stage of the course of HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT.
This level of training prepares the student for all functions of human resource management, including the functions of the Directorate of the system and global projects in the area of human resources.
Comments
The study Cycle course includes six curricular units as options, that the students choose from those proposed annually by the Scientific Comittee of the Course.
The course includes an internship in one firm, giving rise to a report grounded on the theoretical models learned.To develop an active policy aiming at its students¿ professional integration is one of the objectives of this study cycle. Thus, besides various cooperation protocols established to integrate our students in internships and on-the-job training in several public and private entities operating in this sector in Portugal, the present study cycle engages in momentary agreements with other institutions with a view to ensuring the effective integration of all its students or graduates.
