Objectives

Filling a gap in the teaching of performing arts in Portugal, focused mainly on the traditional scenic arts and thus overlooking developments brought about by the use of technologies as creative tools, this course aims to match the emergence of new job requirements in the field of artistic production and its linkages with the field of communication. So, it will provide transdisciplinary skills enabling its graduates to assert themselves as producers and creators and to acknowledge and integrate multiple art forms, responding to the new challenges in these areas and to the requirements of a growing and expanding market. This purpose will be aimed at, however, through recognition of the technical background of the traditional scenic and dramatic arts. In sum, it is intended to strengthen national academic learning and production with autonomous, flexible professionals, responsive to current transformations of national and international artistic contexts.

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired

This diploma provides its students with the ability to deal with the concepts inherent to the impact of new technologies, in theoretical and practical terms, in the specific field of the performing arts; skills in the areas of interpretation for theatre, cinema and audiovisual; theoretical and practical skills in the field of career management and projects, considering the changes brought over in the performing arts and performing contexts. It bestows students a solid theoretical learning on communicational areas, as wide as to cover management, applied technologies, arts, performance, aesthetics and theories of art, direction and staging, choreography and movement, enabling them, also, for a course of academic, creative or experimental research, which can be co consolidate further in education of the existing ULHT and others it is to create, as well as its relation to professional practice.
