The culture of sound has matured in the last few years. All over Europe and in the United States study cycles and research centres are being established with the objective of studying sound, its qualities and expressions.
ULHT and the School of Communication, Arts and Information Technology (SCAIT) (Escola de Comunicação, Artes e Tecnologias da Informação-ECATI) also wanted to join the golden years of sound, merging the technological, communication and artistic areas that have undergone an ongoing increase since the end of the last decade into the same licentiate degree.
The curricular structure of this new course is organized in such a way as to accommodate both old and new subjects, as well as unite the arts of sound to recording technologies, reproduction, production and sound synthesis.
Subjected in urban life to a territory ruled by sound and noise, this study cycle aims to contribute to an understanding of the object sound of in daily life, recovering from history that which Man owes to the sense of hearing.
This licentiate degree favours the place of skills, knowledge and innovation in a close association with the cultural industries, research and the media.
