Presentation
Provide students with the theoretical-practical knowledge that allows an analysis of the problems confronting the modern economies in the labor market, as well as analyze and simulate possible situations of conflict. Intermediate domain of the concepts of the labor economy. Economic analysis of behavior and relationships between employers and employees. Find out the relevance and social implications of changes in the labor market. Ability to critically analyze labor policies.

1. Basic concepts
2. Overview of the labor market: demand for and supply of labor; Marketplace balance
3. Models of labor demand: simple model; modified models; monopson; minimum wage
4. Graphical derivation of the curve of a company's job search: substitution and scale effects
5. Elasticities of labor demand, technological change, and foreign trade: Hicks-Marshall laws
6. Quasi-fixed labor costs and their effects on demand: non-wage labor costs; training investments; discrimination in hiring
7. Supply of labor
8. Theory of domestic production: some social issues
9. A hedonistic theory of wages
10. Investments in human capital: education and professionalization
11. Payment and productivity
12. Inflation, unemployment and productivity growth
13. Worker mobility: turnover and migration
14. Inequalities in earnings
Objectives
Intermediate domain of the concepts of labor economics. Ability to analyze critical labor policies. Habits of consultation of good sources of information.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Theoretical-practical classes, with the load the total hourly load of 60 hours. In the classes are given clues of investigation on the several domains approached, being there accompaniment of the students on the part of the teacher of the discipline, in sessions of individual attendance or in group. Assessment continues: Test 1 - on points 1 to 7 of the program (45%); Test 2 - on points 8 to 14 of the program (50%); Adjustment of grades with attendance weighting and class participation (5%). Examination (100%).
