Syllabus
Given the objectives set, the course intends that students acquire the following skills: - Knowledge of the assets and liabilities of the Portuguese Colonial Empire. - Mastery of the basic concepts that allow them to understand the realities of the social, political and economic systems of Lusophone countries through the interpretative reading of the various indicators. - Ability to realize that the interdependencies resulting from globalization imply the shift from the classic concept of sovereignty to a sovereignty of service. - Developing a critical mind about the way power is exercised in the Luso- sphere. - Inventory of the relationship between the exercise of power and socio-economic policies. - Ability to expose and defend their perspectives autonomously.
Objectives
Identify the various conceptions of the Lusophony concept - Relate colonization and the decolonizing process with the difficulties of affirming the Lusophone project - Know the ways of integration of Lusophone countries - Understand the role of various personalities in the materialization of the Lusophone project - Identify realities, constraints and possibilities of Lusosphonia - To outline the prospective vision of the Lusophone Community.
Teaching methodologies and assessment
As it is a theoretical unit, the methodology combines the technique of exposition with the interpretative reading of theoretical corpus followed by semi-directed debate and a systematization that, in this case, coincides with the almost final part of the class and functions as a kind. of peroration, but made collectively. The adverb ¿almost¿ is justified because the final part of the class, more precisely the final half hour, is intended for a brief oral presentation by students of an aspect of the subject under study. Continuous assessment requires three-quarters attendance, participation in discussions, oral presentation of an individual or small group assignment on a program theme and a written in-person test. Weighting value of each of these elements: 10% - Attendance and Punctuality 25% - Participation in debates about theoretical corpus 25% - Oral presentation of a paper 40% - Test-synthesis.
