Portugal and the European Union
Presentation
Portugal's entry into the European Union in 1986 was relevant to the growth and development of Portugal as a European country. Being Portugal in an Intergovernmental Organization, institutional relations are necessarily established with that organization, as well as with each of its members. For the European Union to function and to be a cohesive element for the progress of the peoples, it is necessary that the strongest members help the weaker members.
