Strategic Planning for Human Resources

Presentation

This is a Strategic Planning Training Course, created to offer a body of knowledge and authors on the art of strategic planning and focusing on harmony and organizational effectiveness.
It is a powerful tool capable of significantly improving individual and group productivity and professional performance, enabling the development of human resources policies that increase the quality of the organization.
PERH will drive the company with organization and foster the proper alignment of expectations and goals.
Strategic planning is a set of information that serves as a reference and for the planning of organizational actions. It can be considered as an advisor to members of a particular organization.
The need for new techniques and strategies will create a mutual way of evaluating the process by identifying relevant positive and negative points towards improvement.

Syllabus

1. Introduction to strategy: what is strategy, differences between strategy management and operational management, place and importance of strategic management in organizations;
2. Strategic thinking: Differences between strategic thinking and strategic management, analytical thinking and creative thinking, strategic thinking and strategic planning;
3. The Strategic Planning Process: Establish Mission, Vision and Values, Set Strategic Objectives;
4. Analyze the external environment, Identify the competitive advantage, determine the intended competitive position;
5. Align HR with strategy: Approaches to HR strategic management, the importance and purpose of HR strategic planning, corporate strategy and HR strategy. Different types of strategy: Corporate strategy, business strategy, and functional area strategy;
6. HRM as a strategic partner;

7. HRM's mission as a strategic partner;

8. New strategic HRM challenges in society 5.0.

Objectives

Understand and discuss why managers need to analyze the implications of their strategies on people management; Mastering business strategy concepts; Know and understand the various factors for the definition of strategies and processes; Know the main business strategies and how to diagnose their impacts on HR strategies.Know the different stages of the strategic planning processes; Understand the importance of Strategic Human Resources Planning; Know and master different perspectives for alignment between business strategies and HR strategies for HRM to become a strategic partner; Know the key features of an effective HR strategy.Know how to plan human resources, global and specific, knowing how to calculate the size of the human system and the corresponding workload; Have the competence to define HRM policies, aligned with the overall business strategy.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Teaching Methodologies:

  • Theoretical debates for precise definition of the concepts;
  • Practical exercises in class;
  • Preparation of texts of theoretical and scientific exploration of the themes, with presentation in class.

Evaluation Methodology:

  • 2 Individual written tests on acquired theoretical and practical concepts, with a weighting of 50% (25% each test);
  • 1 Final group work (composed of written report, slides for presentation and individual defense in class), with the weighting of 30%;
  • Participation, involvement in classes and practical work, with a weight of 20%.
