    Syllabus

    The program of this CU shall consist in the first instance, in the implementation and critical analysis of several pre-determined exercises that develop the narrative skills learned in the first semester and shall endow students with the tools necessary for writing a script for short film:
    - Visualization Exercises
    - Preparedness and Consequence Exercises
    - Narrative Construction Exercises
    - Building Scenes Exercises
    - Structuring the Synopsis Exercises
    Based on the work done in this first phase, students shall present an idea for a project of short fiction film, which shall be developed throughout the semester, and write a final draft of a script for production.
    At the end of the semester, students will proceed to an oral and written presentation of the short film project developed in a narrative perspective and for a potential production.

    Objectives

    The aim of this curricular unit (CU) is to follow students from the emergence of the idea to its transformation into a cinematic narrative. Through the execution of predetermined exercises, and the development of general narrative concepts, by the end of the semester students should be prepared to recognize the cinematic potential of their ideas and structure them in terms of a visual narrative, writing a screenplay for short film likely to be produced.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The assignments for this CU shall take place under a workshop with the following steps:
    a) Writing Exercises ¿ Students will perform (in class or as an individual work) predefined exercises;
    b) A critical analysis of the exercises;
    c) Presentation and selection of ideas for the design of a short film;
    d) The proposed short film and the development of its critical analysis;
    e) Writing the final script;
    f) Oral and written presentation of the final draft of short film production

    The assessment shall consist of:
    1. Continuous Assessment (in class contribution and participation in the critical analysis of the work of colleagues): 25%
    2. Implementation discussion and review of pre-defined exercises: 25%
    3. Development and writing of a film script for a short film: 25%
    4. Final oral and written presentation of the draft for a short film for production: 25%
