    This class contributes to the development of investigation skills and critical analysis skills, while helping the student to understand the presuppositions that govern technologies currently available to any user. It equally promotes the student¿s conceptual and creative development, beyond providing technical knowledge for the creation of digital contents. In this way, it equips the student with skills for exercising their communication power in the contemporary society.

    • Creation of webpages with the works developed in this class 
      • Content Management Systems (Wordpress and Wix) 
      • How to transform any webpage into a template / content modification in HTML (with Brackets)
      • Some principles that govern Google¿s indexing and ranking
    • Critical analysis of multimedia objects
    • Investigation of contemporary socio-cultural issues
    • Notions of Open Source, Shareware and Creative Commons
    • Sound editing (with Reaper or Audacity) and image editing (with Gimp or Photoshop)
    • Creative project illustrating the investigation (graphic & sonic montages including internal and external links)

    • To develop autonomy in research and learning
    • To develop the ability of contextualizing multimedia objects (item, user/ consumer/ addressee and production)
    • To develop critical thinking and conceptual skills based on research of contemporary issues
    • To develop communication skills through the creation of URLs including text, image, sound and video
    • To develop creative methods to free imagination, while discerning connections between apparently unrelated issues
    • To acquire basic skills of sound and image editing, while developing a sensibility for idiosyncratic composition

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    At the beginning of the semester, the students are provided with a document including detailed briefings, teaching and evaluation methodologies, as well as links to digital tools and support materials.
