  • Infrastructure and Equipment

    Infrastructure and Equipment

The Master in Design takes place in the DELLI OFFICE, a central working and learning space to develop what Alan Fletcher has called The Art of Looking Sideways. In it we make available to students different means of production, which can be used during and beyond the lessons. Modern technologies such as 3D printing, laser cuts, plotters, Risographs, digital photocopiers, digital drawing on Cintiqs and 3D Workstations, Motion Capture, which coexist with the most consolidated printing techniques, letterpress, screen printing, mimemographs, needle printers or fax machines, stand out. This is where most of the practical and theoretical subjects are taught. And it is also here that we promote and stimulate extracurricular activities, organized and programmed by the students (seminars, reading sessions, cinema, performance, etc.). At the same time, the Master in Design benefits from the integration in a university campus rich in the multiplicity of knowledge areas, activities and equipment, of which it enjoys.
  • Research

    Research

In the research context, the creation of a new Research Unit in Design named COW- Centre for Other Worlds, as well as the enhancement of the master connection to the ECATI's research centres activities, will allow the master in Design, not only to approach the research themes of these units, but also to benefit from the logistic and scientific organization. Likewise, as the Lusófona University has a variety of courses and respective areas of knowledge, this breadth of knowledge provides an opportunity to broaden the horizons of the Masters in Design, and of Design - "What do we know about Design when we only know Design?" Finally, the international networks richness in which DCAM and Lusófona University are integrated, present an opportunity for growth in international relation, within the scope of research and knowledge sharing, as a catalyst for intellectual development. The Master in Design aims, in this context, to promote the dissemination of catalyzing ideas that contribute to the development of alternative models of society.
