Objectives

This curricular unit aims to address the main experimental paradigms in the study of brain processes with the use of neurophysiological methods. The student will be able to understand, select and use the most appropriate neurophysiological method to study the activity of the Central or the Peripheral Nervous Systems.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

The course is taught on a theoretical-practical basis, using the expository method with the aid of audiovisual media and supported in scientific articles relevant to the themes under study. The practical classes performed in the laboratory are focused on the demonstration of the functioning of psychophysiological techniques, or in the classroom with computers for processing and analysis of neuropsychophysiological data.

The evaluation of this curricular unit includes attendance and two evaluation moments: 1) written test (50%) and 2) group work (50%) of 2/3 students based on the activities developed in the practical classes. A final exam (100%) will be made to students who do not meet the requirements for the continuous assessment modality with contents from theoretical and practical classes. Class attendance is mandatory. At a final grade, the student must have at least 10 points.
