Presentation

This curricular unit (CU) aims to promote the development of scientific research competences in Neuropsychology. The student will be integrated in the dissertation seminar that will be implemented through weekly sessions of small group tutoring with the supervisor teacher. The assignment of students to teachers will be based on their experience.

Objectives

The Research in Applied Neuropsychology aims of promoting the development of research skills in Neuropsychology. It is intended that students develop an autonomous research and development capacity for a R&D project. This CU intends that students understand the different types of scientific studies in the area of Neuropsychology and Neuroscience, taking into account that the students develop the ability to reflect and develop the research problem, with the objectives and study hypotheses, as well as promote their knowledge related to the scientific method and with the different types and study designs.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Expositive and demonstrative methods. The initial lectures aim to introduce the contents and rules of operation on the CU, as well as the principles of ethics and deontology. During the activities of the CU, the demonstration methodology will be used, and the specific training will be developed at each topic related to the practical research skills, namely in the search of papers online databases, scientific writing skills and APA standards, and the processing and data analysis. The evaluation includes the writing of a Dissertation in the format of a scientific article as empirical study, meta-analysis, or systematic review of the literature, with a limit of 10,000 words. The minimum attendance for the conclusion of this course is 75%. The final grade results from the classification in the public defense act of the master's dissertation.
