This curricular unit was designed as precursor of the academic trainee. The integration of contents, knowledgement and skills achieved in others curricular units is promoted in order to applying them to pratical situations of meuropsuchologycal interventions.

Topics: 

  • Procedures and safety rules in laboratory practice
    • Security and ethical issues
  • Stimulus presentation paradigms
    • Using software of stimulus presentation
    • Planning intra and between-subjects experimental conditions
  • Practice with psychophysiological methods
  • Visualising videos of neuropsychological intervention
  • Role-play of neuropsychological intervention

 

Objectives

This curricular unit aims to: 1) Promote theoretical and practical knowledge about experimental paradigms used in the study of neurocognitive functions; 2) Provide skills that allow the planning of neuropsychological interventions that may be applied to to normative and pathological contexts.

 

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Considering that this curricular unit addresses the main experimental paradigms for neurocognitive evaluation, the teaching methodology includes laboratory classes. In these classes, the practice of neuropsychological evaluation in a protected laboratory context is privileged. Thus, tutoring and guided study classes are part of the teaching methodology adopted for this work. The evaluation comprises two evaluation moments: an individual report (50%) and a test (50%). Class attendence is mandatory.  The exam consists of a written exam (100%) that wiill focus on the totality of theorical and practical content. As a final average, the student must have a minimum grade of 10 points.
