This curricular unit (CU) is related to the curricular internship in Applied Neuropsychology, in which the norms of this unit are defined in the internal regulation of internship of the EPCV.

Syllabus

The internship CU has two modalities: a) 350h of internship supervised by an advisor from the institution; and b) 90 hours of contact with the supervising teacher at ULHT. In this last modality, the student will be integrated in the internship seminar that will be implemented through weekly tutoring sessions in a small group with the supervising teacher. The following topics are covered in these sessions:

1. Internship regulation, definition of the intern's functions, ethics and deontology;

2. Presentation of activities and practical cases and articulation with theoretical knowledge and state of the art;

3. Reflection on the application, limitations and potential of the evaluation / intervention, in conjunction with the content covered in the previous year;

4. Communication skills training (observation and implementation; psychologist / client; psychologist / team);

5. Assessment practices in Applied Neuropsychology

6. Case study reports

7. Preparation of the Internship Report.

Objectives

It is intended that students acquire work skills in the field of Neuropsychology. The acquisition of these skills will be carried out in a first stage through practice observation of the internship supervisors and under the supervision of the teachers of this curricular unit (CU). In a second stage, students will be involved in the supervised practice essentially of neuropsychological assessment activities, where they will be able to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the training. Students will also be involved in neuropsychological intervention activities, such as cognitive stimulation and training or neuropsychological rehabilitation, depending on the context of the academic internship. The tasks performed under supervision must constitute specific acts of Psychology and be appropriate to the objectives and mission of the institution where they are developed.

Teaching methodologies and assessment

Expository and demonstrative method. Initially the methodologies are expository of the initial points of the program. In the next phase of CU, the roleplay training of the main communication skills in the context of an internship will be developed. Then, specific training will be developed in situations related to the different intervention contexts in Neuropsychology, where the clinical discussion of cases will be privileged.

The evaluation contemplates the elaboration of an internship report. The essay must not exceed 30 A4 pages and will be delivered on paper and in digital format. The minimum attendance to complete this course is 75%. The approval to the CU depends on the evaluation of the faculty advisor and after hearing the institutional advisor and will take into account the attendance and the final oral evaluation of the internship report before a jury in accordance with the internship seminar regulations.
