Intervention and Research Methods in Domestic Violence I
Presentation
Domestic violence has become, in recent decades, the object of analysis of several scientific disciplines, with a view to understanding and improving the response to it. For centuries it was treated as a private matter and, only in the 70s of the last century, it was recognized as a social problem, allowing the emergence of theoretical paradigms for its explanation, scientific investigations and social strategies and policies to combat it. In this UC we intend to understand the field of investigation and intervention in domestic (and gender) violence, in order to give visibility to the contributions of researchers. In this way, we intend to contribute to the understanding of this problem, which increasingly requires a multidisciplinary intervention, based on the contributions of research and conceptualization, as well as the intervention paradigms that exist within the scope of domestic and gender violence.

Objectives
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The curricular unit will be developed with a discussion of the topics duly highlighted in the syllabus and with the support of bibliography and other teaching materials (usually PowerPoint presentations). Open dialogue, guided text search, contact with experiences and research projects (namely, from university repositories, whenever necessary) will be promoted. The teaching methodology thus adds expository classes and interactive classes, valuing the debate in the classroom and the discussion around research and intervention projects. The evaluation consists of a written work and its presentation.
