Job summary
A call is open for one Research Scholarship - Video Game Developer, under the project GBL4deaf - Game-Based Learning for Deaf (LISBOA-01-0145-FEDER-032022)/Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias/CICANT, Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Regional Operational Programme of Lisbon (POR LISBOA 2020) and by national funds through FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.

Job description

Admission requirements: The Grantee has a Bachelor degree in Video games and Multimedia or Computer Engineering area and experience with serious games development, particularly for deaf students, will be valued. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in projects related with deaf students. The Video Game Developer will participate on the development of a Serious Game for teaching mathematics to deaf children. The candidate will participate mainly: responsible for the video game programming; participation on the definition of the gameplay and general concept; participation on all the video game tasks in general, such as documentation and evaluation tasks; contribute to dissemination, through participation on scientific papers, presentations, seminars or symposia. Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese are mandatory.

Evaluation criteria The evaluation method is as follow: academic record of the candidate and experience in the above mentioned areas of research: 80%; interview 20%. Only the 2 candidates with the best academic and experience record will be interviewed. The candidates admitted to interview will be informed by email. The evaluation Panel is composed by: Maria da Conceição Gonçalves Costa (PhD), José Carlos Neves (PhD) and Filipe Luz (PhD). Candidates not fulfilling the areas of knowledge requirements will be directly excluded. Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICANT - Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies facilities of Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias under the supervision of Maria da Conceição Gonçalves Costa, PhD. Duration of the Grant: the grant will have an experimental period of 3 months and a 15 months duration, and it is expected to begin on November 2018. Value of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €745, according to the table of values of the grants awarded directly by the FCT, IP in the country. (Valores).
