Researchers from Lusófona University approved their CATCHER project, with around 3 million euros allocated budget, under a funding program that encourages visionary thinking and intends to open up promising paths for the discovery of new technologies.

With its Pathfinder programme the EIC supports the exploration of bold ideas for radically new technologies. It welcomes the high-risk / high gain and interdisciplinary cutting-edge science collaborations that underpin technological breakthroughs. Pathfinder goes beyond what is already known. Visionary thinking can open up promising avenues towards powerful new technologies.

CATCHER project is aimed at the development of innovative technology to exploit the atmospheric humidity for direct conversion to the electricity, thus gain a new sustainable source of renewable energy and to contribute to implementing the specific priorities for strengthening the EU leadership on renewables. The successful realization of the project is assured by implementation of knowledge sharing in material science, physics, nanoelectronics, green chemistry, nanoengineering, sustainability and research marketing via international and intersectorial collaboration of highly qualified research and business from Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Spain and Ukraine.

Congratulations to the team!
