Resume

Sérgio Andrade Carvalho holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology since 2021, and a MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology since 2011, by the University of Coimbra (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences). He is a full time Assistant Professor at Lusófona University (School of Psychology and Life Sciences), an integrated researcher at Digital Human-Environment Interaction Lab (HEI-Lab), and a collaborator researcher at Center for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioral Intervention (CINEICC). His main research topics include 1) the risk and protective role of psychological processes underlying the development and maintenance of psychopathology, in different clinical presentations, including chronic illness - special focus on Chronic Pain; 2) development and efficacy test, in controlled trials, of face-to-face and online evidence-based psychological programs in promoting mental health, reducing psychopathology, and developing pain management and emotional regulation skills, based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion-Based Interventions. He has co-authored more than 30 articles in peer reviewed international journals with impact factor (majority Q1 and Q2), 15 of which as first author, with 711 citations since 2017 (google scholar h-index: 15). He co-authored 2 book chapters, and several conference abstracts, paper, and poster presentations. He has received 5 awards and/or honors from international organizations (e.g., Association for Contextual Behavioral Science). He has participated as research team member of 5 funded projects.
