In this course unit the student can develop the essential skills necessary to explore and master a spreadsheet in typical Biology undergraduate exercises. On the other hand, at a later stage you will have as your core competencies important to the high level MATLAB / OCTAVE programming language for solving generic biology problems.

Computer exploitation as an important tool for scientific development. Explore the possibilities of Excel as a graphing tool but also as a programming platform. Introduce MATLAB/OCTAVE as a scientific programming language. Introduction to numerical computing techniques with applications to the natural sciences.
