    With this curricular unit, it is intended to provide students with the administrative and strategic dimensions of Human Resources Management. Attempts will be made to develop meta-reflective skills and personnel management techniques in order to achieve effective human resources performance in the organization. The main components of Human Resource Management tasks are presented and analyzed with students, showing the systemic effects that this area can have in the efficient orientation of organizations in general.

    1.1 From Personnel Management to People Management (Hard and Soft Skills): an integrative synthesis between results and people orientation

    2. Human Resources Management and the economic perspective: markets (employment and HRM) and planning (an antechamber to understanding the Recruitment and Selection Process)

    3. Human Resources Management and the psychological contract

    4. Human resource management, organizational justice and power

    5. Analysis of the transversal functions of Human Resources

    5.1. Performance evaluation (technical and emotional): Concept, phases, techniques, players and problems

    5.2 Skills management and career management: two sides of the same coin? Concept, phases, techniques, players and problems

    5.3 Salary systems and their impact on employees and organizations

    5.6. Training/development and organizations sustainability

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    To portray the historical origin of the HR function and to frame it in the organizational scope. Define HRM and highlight its main objectives / challenges.

    Describe the various activities / functions / responsibilities that may be related to the HR function.

    Analyze, in a systemic way, the implications of (in) compliance with the Psychological Contract for HRM, in order to better plan assets based on market readings.

    Understand the influence of various types of justice and the different sources of power in HRM.

    Understand and describe the main steps of a HR function assessment plan.

    Plan to justify the key phases of performance appraisal. Distinguish between selection and recruitment and identify the key stages of both processes.

    Deepen the concepts of competency and career management.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Mental models methodology - develops and refines decision-making and problem-solving skills.

    Interrogative method - refines creativity, dialog and reflection skills. Virtual reality method - develops confidence and skills in simulation situation. Experience-based learning, group dynamics methodology.
