    This curricular unit aims to: 

    Develop vocabulary and fluency in English, in two specific situations of professional life - meetings and
    project management. 

    Provide students with communicational tools to enable them to express themselves efficiently, courteously and professionally in English, in situations involving exchange of opinions and discussion of ideas and proposals, with convergent and divergent points of view. 

    Consolidate students' ability to speak and write fluently and critically about relevant topics pertaining to the Tourismo and related industries, using the correct terminology. 

    Encourage students to become independent users of English.

    Syllabus

    1. The business of fun - theme parks, festivals, hotel entertainment. Managing projects (giving feedback, discussing setbacks).
    2. Sustainability in tourism and hospitality. Eco-resorts
    3. Wellness tourism.
    4. Meetings - types, formalisms, the key role of the chair and the agenda. Writing the minutes. Relevant language for pertinent participation.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The key skills to acquire/reinforce are: 

    The ability to communicate fluently, clearly and adequately in English; 

    The ability to make critical interventions, in a clear and well-structured manner, using vocabulary and language strategies that are suited to the discussion of points of view and proposals, as well as project updates. 

    The ability to understand and interpret texts in English from various sources. 

    The ability to apply acquired knowledge to the discussion of ideas and proposals, resorting to the use of technical language related to the field of Tourism.

  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Interactive lecture - short lecture times associated with audiovisual resources and demonstrations (real or simulations and recordings), individual and small group activities, debates. Such exposure will stimulate students to think, debate ideas, collaborate with each other and develop deep learning.
