- Scientific sources and their evaluation.
- Scientific method in natural sciences: description; control and understanding.
- Controllable versus uncontrollable phenomenon: limitations of experimental methods in the face of real-world complexity.
- Non-experimental methods: correlation; naturalistic observation; surveys; case studies.
- Types of research: descriptive; analytical; predictive; experimental.
- Research design: problem-solving approach; research questions and hypotheses; choice of research methods.
- Research process: organization of process; progress monitoring and control.

Objectives
The main goal is to give the student the opportunity to define and initiate the procedures for the elaboration of a Dissertation plan.
The determinant aspects for structuring a Dissertation are addressed and the students are asked to define their Dissertation plan, which will have to be defended in public.
