This curricular unit is essential so that the student can acquire the skills and research techniques, as well as the autonomy and organization philosophy to prepare a Master's dissertation.

• Scientific method in natural sciences: description; control and understanding.
• Controllable versus uncontrollable phenomenon: limitations of experimental methods in the face of real-world complexity.
• Non-experimental methods: correlation; naturalistic observation; surveys; case studies.
• Types of research: descriptive; analytical; predictive; experimental.
• Research design: problem-solving approach; research questions and hypotheses; choice of research methods.
• Research process: organization of process; progress monitoring and control.
• Scientific communication: write, review, communicate.

It also includes innovative methodologies to support the teaching-learning process, namely the use of scientific research systems and automatic referencing.
