Class Special Structures

This curricular unit intends to design structures that, due to their structural behavior, designing process, materials that constitute them or the construction processes used, are considered special, such as bridges. Techniques and methodologies for inspection, maintenance and monitoring of bridges are introduced.

• Design of prestressed concrete bridges;
• Inspection, maintenance, and monitoring of bridges.

The teaching methodology consists of theoretical classes and theoretical-practical classes. In theoretical classes, subjects are approached from a theoretical point of view. In theoretical-practical classes, problems are solved in order to interconnect theoretical concepts with practice.
