Class Didactics of Swimming

  • Presentation

    Presentation

    The inclusion of the Curricular Unit (CU) of Swimming Didactics responds to the academic training needs of future Physical Education Teachers, in compliance with the National Physical Education Programs (NPEP).

    Swimming has a complementary nature in the NPEP but will be assumed as mandatory whenever the educational institution has its own infrastructures appropriate to its practice.

    Drowning prevention is becoming increasingly important worldwide and should be a top priority for teachers in this area. Complementarily the mastery of swimming techniques reinforces the main priority and assumes its importance for a comprehensive motor literacy.

    g.Operational intervention in the teaching-learning process of colleagues - simulated pedagogical practice.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The CU main objective is to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for the intervention of the P.E. Teacher, within the teaching-learning process in the school environment.

    Objectives are:

    1. To know and discuss different methodologies of the teaching-learning process of swimming - observation, planning, teaching and evaluation;

    2. To present differentiated knowledge and strategies in the teaching of swimming lessons in a school context, according to the students' motor performance level (introductory, elementary or advanced);

    3. To demonstrate skills in the field of technical execution, as well as demonstrating the motor actions of swimming techniques, starts and turns;

    4. To demonstrate competences in the observation, recording and evaluation of the specific technical actions of the sport - observe to correct and observe to evaluate.

    5. To develop teaching units based on analysis and observation tasks from different practical contexts (individual, group, school report).
