Presentation
Journalistic Writing Techniques is a theoretical and practical course unit that addresses the specificities of journalistic discourse (Van Dijk, 1988), from the discursive elements of each genre, analysing its foundations, e.g. narrative studies (Seixas, 2009; Peixinho & Araújo, 2017), and observing the particularities of contemporary journalistic writing, especially in the context of the convergence culture from which cybergenres emerge (Díaz-Noci, 2004; Sánchez-García & Salaverría, 2019). Moreover, it is a curricular unit that focuses, in an introductory way, on the whole process of journalistic praxis (Traquina, 2005): from the criteria of newsworthiness, to the intellectual process of the interpretative community of Journalism and its matrix elements (Kovach & Rosenstiel, 2004, 2021). Indeed, starting, first, from expository sessions, students will then be challenged to put into practice, especially the news, the interview and the reportage at #infomedia.

With the curricular unit of Journalistic Writing Techniques, it is intended that students become able to write correctly according to journalistic and notability criteria, adopting the rules inherent to each genre. Accordingly, students should be able to apply them in the preparation of news, reportages/features and interviews in accordance with the audience and the media to which they are addressing to, following the rules of good spelling, grammatical and stylistic practices.
Furthermore, the characteristics of writing for the web and the different forms of information dissemination are also part of this introductory approach. Finally, students should also acquire skills in information gathering techniques and their practical application.
