Tânia Santos de Almeida has completed her PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2006 (FCT Grant) and her graduation in chemistry in 2000, by Faculdade de Ciências from Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). Post-doctorate (FCT Grant) in Computational Chemistry/Organic Phisycal Chemistry at Institute for Interdisciplinary Investigation in collaboration with Centro de Química e Bioquímica da FCUL from Universidade de Lisboa. Currently, is an Assistant Professor at Escola de Ciências e Tecnologias da Saúde (ECTS) from Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (ULHT) and is a senior Researcher at CBIOS-Research Center for Biosciences and Health Technologies da ULHT, where she is the head of the Applied Chemistry Lab. Her main research topics include the synthesis and applicability of Ionic Liquids in drug delivery and the development of new delivery systems with improved performance. Has published about 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, has reviewed several articles in International Scientific Journals and is currently the guest editor of a special issue. She has supervised eleven Master master dissertations and several national and International research trainees. She is currently supervising two PhD students and several Master degree students. Has participated in several Academic Juries, has integrated in the Evaluation Panel of different calls for research fellowships (CBIOS/FCT). Has received 4 awards in Scientific Conferences. She is also very interested in Science Communication and consequently has been responsible for the organisation of several University extension activities in representation of ECTS/CBIOS, has been in the organising committee of several National and International Scientific Meetings and is the content manager of the websites from ECTS and CBIOS.
