Catarina Vinhas Jota Baptista

Resume

As an Assistant Professor at Egas Moniz School of Health and Sciences, I currently teach Toxicology and Pharmacology in Veterinary Medicine, and Toxicology in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nutritional Sciences. Previously, I taught Pathology and Clinical Medicine of Wild Species Veterinary Nursing (in ULusófona, IPLUSO). I have over two years of experience in higher education, wildlife conservation, and population health research. I am also a PhD candidate in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, where I already submitted my thesis on the impact of environmental pollution on animal health, under One Health. I have a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Lisbon, a Postgraduate Degree in Ecology and Wildlife Conservation from the University of Leeds, and several certifications and awards in the field. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of veterinary science and contributing to the protection and welfare of wildlife. My main interest is to develop an academic career mainly focused on Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Pharmacology and/or Wildlife Population Health. I have been teaching modules and lectures on the importance of environmental contamination monitoring under a One Health perspective in graduation and post-graduation courses (namely in IPLUSO and Instituto Politecnico de Viana do Castelo). I could not choose if I prefer to teach in higher education or to do research, so I intend to do both in my career. I am fluent and have an official certification in English (C1) and Spanish (B2).
