Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS)
A Future of Magazine (FoM) é um evento que reúne diversos investigadores para partilhar insights, ideias e discutir a situação atual e os desafios técnicos que o meio enfrentará no futuro, bem como questões relevantes para a compreensão deste campo de estudos.
Os trabalhos serão apresentados como parte de um rico programa de conferências, incluindo palestras, workshops práticos, sessões de posters e painéis interdisciplinares concebidos para promover a colaboração entre o meio académico e os profissionais da área editorial.
Principais Oradores
Elena Caratti

PhD, is Associate Professor at the Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano. She holds a Master in Architecture and a PhD in Design and Multimedia Communication. She is currently Chair of the Bachelor's and Master's degree course in Communication Design, where she teaches Editorial Design at the Ba and Ma in Communication Design. At the Doctoral School of Politecnico she teaches Positioning research and she is member of the Doctoral Collegium. For years she has been conducting research in the field of visual cultures and editorial design. Author of Rimediazioni Gender-Sensitive (2015), she co-edited the book Design is translation (2016), and the book Designing ethically in a complex world (2024).
Patrícia Reis

Patrícia Reis (Lisbon, 1970) is a journalist, writer, and curator. She began her career at the weekly newspaper O Independente and later worked for Expresso, various women’s magazines, Antena 1, and Rádio Observador. She is co-author of the podcast Um Género de Conversa (“A Kind of Talk”) and curator of the multi-award-winning cultural magazine Egoísta. As a fiction writer, she has been publishing with Dom Quixote since 2000. For the biography collection of the publisher Contraponto, she authored A Desobediente - Biografia de Maria Teresa Horta. She holds a master’s degree in Religious Sciences and is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication Sciences at Lusófona University.
James Hewes

Is a transformational media executive, Honorary Professor, and sought-after advisor who has led global organizations through periods of digital disruption. As the former President & CEO of FIPP and CEO of PRCA, James brings over 20 years of experience driving innovation across digital media and communications sectors. Known for his strategic vision in revitalizing media businesses, achieving consistent profit margins, and expanding into new markets, James combines deep industry knowledge with practical leadership experience that has guided major media transformations, including the £120M sale of BBC Magazines. Through his consultancy Soho Consulting, he continues to shape the future of media.
Jeremy Leslie

Has over 35 years of experience magazine making, developing award-winning magazines for international clients including Sky, Nike and Virgin Atlantic. Today he runs magCulture, a platform celebrating print magazines. Launched in 2006, magCulture comprises a specialist magazine shop in London, an online journal featuring reviews and interviews with magazine makers, and a podcast. Jeremy has also written books about editorial design and regularly contributes to the creative press and conferences. He is an awarded member and ex-trustee of D&AD and an elected member of AGI. In 2018 he was awarded the Mark Boxer Award by the British Society of Magazine Editors, given for services to the magazine industry.
